Adobe Illustrator course

Take an Adobe Illustrator course and learn from the creative professionals

We offer Illustrator training courses at three levels: Introduction, Intermediate and Advanced. Book one of these courses with Platform 39 and gain the skills to create your own stunning logos, precise designs and beautiful vector images. Adobe Illustrator is a vector drawing program. Because of its vector graphics based accuracy and scalability Illustrator is widely used for typography, logo design, illustration, diagrams, charts, pattern making, fashion design and technical drawing. Unlike the familiar gif, jpeg, tiff, etc. images – known as raster images – vector images are not made up of a grid of pixels. Instead, they use mathematical equations to draw out the shapes. This makes vector graphics scalable without any loss of resolution.

This lossless scaling makes the application a much better option – for companies concerned with branding – than using image editing software. Our one day beginner’s course will enable you to create precise, scalable, graphical and typographical designs with ease.

Find your Adobe Illustrator course below; make your selection to view the full course details. If you are unsure about which level is right for you please contact us so that we can help you make the right choice. You can download a free trial of the software from the Adobe website.

What is Adobe Illustrator?

Illustrator is Adobe’s vector graphics software. It enables you to draw and create vector graphics.

What are vector graphics and why are they important?

Vector graphics make use of mathematical calculations to render images – which means they don’t lose resolution when scaled up or down. You avoid the fuzziness that sometimes happens when you resize other image formats such as. jpgs or .gifs. This makes Adobe Illustrator an essential skill for designers and anyone who wants to create logos, artwork and other scalable graphics.

Depending on your existing Illustrator skills, you can pick the course that’s right for you. If you’ve never used Illustrator professionally before, start with our introductory courses. If you’ve already been dabbling in Adobe Illustrator and creating designs for a while, begin with our Intermediate courses. If you want to learn advanced tips, tricks and shortcuts for really professional results, choose our Advanced courses. Even experienced designers will learn something new.

Are your courses suitable as refresher courses?

Yes, absolutely. Adobe’s Creative Cloud delivery model for its software enables it to push out new features and functionality to users very regularly. If you want to make the most of these new features, a refresher course is a great way to stay up to date – as well as brush up your existing skills.

What will I learn on your Illustrator training courses?

What you’ll learn will very much depend on which level of course you opt for – you are very welcome to call us to discuss if you are unsure which level is right for you. We will always aim to orient our courses to the particular priorities of our learners. However, if there are particular tools and functionality you would like us to focus on, you may wish to consider private, one-to-one tuition. In addition to the scheduled open course dates we run at our Westland Place studios, we are happy to deliver private small group and one-to-one courses either here at Westland Place – or we can come to you.
